A decade began bright and blue,
A Cold War fought by the silly few,
From Loas to Berlin, people were boxed in,
Forever searching for a missing spark.
A plane landed, Lennon stepped off,
Followed by a stone or two,
Wild protests flared until they no longer dared,
A new generation, inspired by youthful rebellion.
Dallas came into view, JFK was soon dispatched,
Followed by the unlucky few,
Vietnam a war raged, bombs were no longer caged,
Small groups wanted radical change.
Moscow pursued the conflict of the age,
Washington felt nothing but rage,
Europe watched on with a resentful gaze,
But nothing could change the world’s evil maze.
1969 a decade came to an end,
Two values clashed, nations almighty changed,
Peoples would never be the same,
But then again, does anything ever change.
